Content & Video Producer | Northbound India

Northbound India was an attempt by Vibha Harish and me to expand the conversations around careers beyond the usual talk about job titles, entrance examinations, top colleges, and average salaries.

We wanted to address questions that young Indians like us often have but don't get guidance on. Is it okay to take risks? What do you do if you are interested in a field which is not established in your country? How do you convince your family?

To answer these questions, we started a blog to interview people from a wide variety of fields and share their journeys. The project culminated with a 30-day trip across the country which took us from Pondicherry to Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bhuj, Jaipur, New Delhi, and Kolkata to meet Arborists, Architects, a Chef, a Zoologist, and even the National Badminton Coach!

Each interview taught us valuable lessons which we shared with our followers through vlogs posted on our YouTube channel and Instagram page.

Our work was covered in the press by The New Indian Express and Hans India.

Bringing Your Beliefs Into Your Work | Meeting a Restoration Architect in Jaipur

In Jaipur we met an architect, Ritu Khandelwal, who works on restoration of heritage sites! She manages to bring her belief system of using traditional Indian artisanal work and into her modern architecture designs. She says that doing makes her feel fulfilled in her work and we know how many people struggle to find that. It’s tough to find the balance between our beliefs and values and the work we do. Watch the video to find out how she finds hers!

Politics is NOT the only way to change the system | Meeting Gurmehar Kaur in Delhi

"Politics? It's too dirty, don't get involved." Sigh. Alright, but is there another way to work within the system and effect change? We had an interesting conversation with Gurmehar Kaur, a student activist from Delhi University, about how public policy is a great way to steer our country's progress. She's only 22 but she is doing her bit by co-founding Citizens for Public Leadership, a fellowship programme to introduce young people to Public Policy and what it's all about!

The Best (and Worst) of Northbound on the Road | The one with the BTS

And it's a wrap! We travelled across the country to meet inspiring people from different professionals to learn what we could about careers in the 21st century. Here we share some of our personal favourite moments from the trip! We also share some BTS because isn't that the fun part? Thank you for watching our videos and we hope that we left you a little more inspired and emboldened to make your big career decisions. We're off the road now so farewell!
