Often during internships and when meeting relatives, people ask me ‘How do you like Pune city?’ and I don’t know how to respond. The question seems simple enough but for me the way I feel about Pune has a lot to do with a certain tiny speck approximately 12°35’20” North and 75°0’8” East in the district of Kasaragod, Kerala.

Ever since I started owning a mobile phone and ever since data became so cheap that we have excess of it, I have stopped having shower thoughts. Actually, I have stopped having thoughts. Showers, I still have. But never without my phone.

Public toilets are bad. But Western-style public toilets are the worst. This colonial takeover of our country’s toilets can be a serious health hazard for Indian women.
